Consecrated in August 1804, it is the first Anglican cathedral built outside the British Isles. In 1989, the Canadian government recognized the Cathedral as National historic Site and the same year, it was listed as a heritage building by the Government of Quebec. Modeled after the Church St. Martin-in-the-Fields in Trafalgar Square, London, the Cathedral also gets its inspiration from this church which has forged a strong musical identity over the past decades.
